1970s tiles back in vogue

According to Construir, a supplement found in the Ecuadorian newspaper El Comercio, 1970s tiles are back in vogue in Cuenca, despite their limited production.

Adriana Carrasco, quoted in the article and interior designer at Cuenca Properties, is a big fan and has used them in three projects designed in collaboration with Carlos Espinoza from Surreal Estudio for property developer ISAM of which they are both partners.

Article about hydraulic tiles in El Comercio

A visit to Casa San Sebastian, Casa Juan Jaramillo and Los Frutales, all in Cuenca, will give you the chance to see these traditional hydraulic cement tiles in situ. According to David Barragán, also quoted in the El Comercio article, these tiles are ideal due to their quality, aesthetics and durability.
